A volleyed long-range effort by Rouzbeh Cheshmi sent Iranian fans screaming inside the Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, before Ramin Rezian made it 2–0.
Wales dominated throughout Friday’s match, and the first half was closely fought as both sets of fans passionately cheered on their respective teams.
In the second half, Iran were the stronger team, hitting the post twice in quick succession. Hennessey was given his marching orders in the 86th minute after Taremi was brought down outside the box.
